NEAT is an INDEPENDENT, citywide, umbrella organization. NEAT members are parents, parent organizations and community members concerned about public education in Saint Paul.
NEAT volunteers work to accomplish the mission of the association by:
- Engaging Parents – In their roles and responsibilities in supporting student achievement, finding ways to connect with unengaged parents and strengthening relationships.
- Diversity & Language Barriers – Engage parents in community-based efforts to reduce the Achievement Gap and find ways to address the structural barriers for our non-English speaking parents.
- Parent Group & Site Council Operations - Facilitate communications, provide leadership training and networking opportunities, collaborate with community-based organizations to provide parenting skills training, develop and promote best practices.
- Strengthen Relationships – Develop resources and opportunities to strengthen relationships and communication among:
– students-parents-teachers – parents-parent groups-site councils – parent groups-site councils-schools – parent leaders-district, and – parent leaders-schools-community focusing particularly on helping engaged parents build relationships across cultures.
