How will we know when the Achievement Gap is closed?

"We'll know the Achievement Gap is closed
when the diversity of our community
is reflected in the full continuum of
local employment occupations."

—Saint Paul NEAT

The Achievement Gap is much more than meeting basic standards.  It's access to opportunities in higher education and higher-paying careers.

We'll know when the Achievement Gap is closed when the diversity of our community is reflected in:

  • secondary challenge class participation and high school completion rates
  • higher education participation and completion rates
  • the full continuum of local employment occupations

We'll know when ALL our children are prepared to succeed in the 21st century.

  • “To succeed in today’s workplace, young people need more than basic reading and math skills. They need substantial content knowledge and information technology skills; advanced thinking skills, flexibility to adapt to change; and interpersonal skills to succeed in multi-cultural, cross-functional teams.”
