June 2006 - Minnesota ranks fourth among all states in a new state-by-state study that reports on the well-being of American children (June 2004, Minnesota ranked first.). The 2006 KIDS COUNT Data Book reveals that Minnesota improved in six out of the 10 measures that reflect child well-being between 1996-2004, experiencing setback in four measures:

• Teen deaths
• Teens not attending school and not working
• Children in poverty
• Children in single-parent families

The six indicators where progress was shown are:
• Low-birthweight babies
• Infant mortality rate
• Child deaths
• Teen births
• Teens who are high school dropouts
• Children living in families where no parent has full-time, year-round employment.

CLIKS! - Brings together the KIDS COUNT data in a powerful new way for community leaders, policymakers, service providers, parents and others who want to take a closer look at the local factors that affect the lives of children and families.
