- Emphasis. Generally speaking, underlining is preferred over italics.
- Dashes—are used to offset text with NO space between the dash and the adjoining words—but I don't know how to create them (even in HTML mode they look the same to me). Do not use a hyphen or two hyphens in place of a dash. Copy the one from here if you'd like to use dashes. - Style Link -
- White Space.
Between sentences. Use one space between sentences. Use a single space after colons and semicolons.
Between outline elements. DO add white space between first-level or long outline elements (numbers or bullets). Do not add white space between lines of short lists.
To add the white space use two "manual line breaks" (simultaneous SHIFT,ENTER), not paragraph returns (plain ENTER). I find it's easiest to create my outline "squashed" then to go back and add the manual line breaks once I'm done adding text.
At the top of Web pages. Start each page with one manual line break (simultaneous SHIFT,ENTER) to add a titch of white space between the Title and opening text.
- Commonly misspelled words or abbreviations.
- E-mail or e-mail, not email
- K-12, not k-12
- Web site, not web site or website
- Internet, not internet
- Use an apostrophe when referring to PTA's, PTO's, PAC's, not straight plural as in PTAs, PTOs, PACs.

- Return to Top. Put at the bottom of any page where the viewer has to page down more than twice to get to the bottom. I don't know how this works, but have successfully copied it from one place to another. To use, copy from here into the page you're working on.
- Page Styles
The Item feature can be used to store style notes about specific pages as they're developed. NEAT has done this by creating Items with the title "Web Volunteers" and leaving them turned off at the top of the Items list. The turned off Item can be see by anyone at the page in the Edit Mode, but is not Live. This helps new volunteers know the purposes of a page as it relates to another page on the site.
Another handy way to use turned of Items is to create one titled "Pending." This is a good place to put information you need to get onto the Live site but don't have time to implement right away. Also supports more than one volunteer working on a page or set of pages - could be used as a place to store the most current "next steps."
