| A guiding principle of NEAT is to "use the data, to identify needs, to develop strategies to address them;" hence, we post a lot of research.
Much of what's been done needs to be cleaned up/made more accessible, but in doing so committee chairs/other Web volunteers should be careful to use and update the style standards in Setting Hyperlinks.
In addition, the "Education News & Reports" section of the Web site should be updated each time a new research link is posted.
Specific Steps
- After adding the link in Edit Mode, switch to View Site and refresh your screen.
- Copy the full entry into your clipboard.
- Open Education News & Reports in the Edit Mode.
- Add two returns after the opening text.
- Paste the entry into the page.
- Add a soft return (simultaneous SHIFT, Enter)
- Start this line with the word "at"
- Go back to the View Site Mode and copy the "route" to the page from the top of the page where you added the new link.
Example: Engaging Parents > Learning at School > Family & Community Involvement > School-Community Connections > Web Volunteers DO NOT include the opening NEAT page. This messes things up. Paste the "route" on the same line as the "at"
- Copy the most recent bold "Posted on [date]" line to above the entry you just added. Update the date. Save.
NOTE: It is not necessarily to go back and try to update Education News & Reports when links get taken down or pages get moved around. The external link archived at Education News & Reports takes the viewer directly to the page and the last page in the "route" gets updated automatically when you move things around. Also, if a link on an old archived Education News & Reports page fails, so be it. The viewer knows by how they got there they're accessing old information.
