Television Watching
At the time Parsing the Achievement Gap was published, research on the correlation between television watching and student achievement was contradictory.

The April 2004 issue of Pediatrics (a professional journal for pediatricians), reported the results of research showing a correlation between hours of television watched at ages 1 and 3, and attentional problems at age 7.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children be exposed to no more than 1 or 2 hours of television a day.
