August 2004 - Investing in Early Childhood Education in Ohio: An Economic Appraisal, Ohio Could Save $782 Million in Taxpayer Money by Investing in Children, The report shows that Ohio could save more than $782 million in taxpayer funds by simply providing twice as many spaces in preschools across the state. The author, Clive R. Belfield of Teachers College, Columbia University uses economic analysis and new empirical evidence to describe and calculate the economic payoff from an expanded investment in early childhood education for the state of Ohio.
