Expect success at school

Research shows that children "rise to the occasion" when teachers and parents have high expectations.

Children work best when they know your expectations and when your expectations support the teachers' efforts at school.  Let your children know you expect them to work hard (give their best effort), get good grades, go to school daily and have good study habits.

With older children it's especially important that you encourage them to take courses that will challenge but not overwhelm them.  Junior high and high school students can choose from among two or more English, math science and social stuides courses. Discuss these and other course options with your children. Make sure they choose courses that will interest and challenge them.
